Review of Teva Women's Ultimate Thong Sandal

These are great sandals with a few flaws.
First of all, they fit very comfortably and the extra little strap can be situated to fit across the top of the foot so you have a more secure fit with no big margin of "flop" in your flip-flop.They work great for hiking around.I did some hiking in Australia on some sandstone sea wall areas and they worked great.Durable and thick enough so no sharp rocks/objects could be felt through the sole.
The sole has some gummy material on it that helps with traction out hiking but if if you walk on carpet you pick up the fuzz, if you walk on pebbles you get those all stuck up in the treads.I spent lots of time picking rocks out of the soles (with a butter knife), because if you walk on solid surfaceor regular ol' floors and have "rock buildup" it caused traction loss.If you walked on someones wood floors with the pebble/rock buildup in the Teva I can see it causing scratches.
Aft the end of the day, they became a bit heavy feeling.
I really do like the mechanics of this sandal, they do what they are suppose to do when "hiking".
They work great but the BIGGEST FLAW OF ALL was the terrible SMELL.When they arrived the smell had permeated the shipping box.I aired them out and they still stunk.The smell is a cross between melted rubber and hay (I know, strange combo, but trust me on this one)I have never had a pair of shoes or anything smell this strong or bad.
They reeked.I tried washing them in my front loader with just Tide.I air dried them and they still smelled bad.I wore them to work (rock buildup was apparent the minute I walked on the linoleum floors, had to stop and pick rocks out, AGAIN)) and my co-workers could smell them too (no its not my feet that stink either...haha).
I bought them for a specific trip and when I packed them in my suitcase I had to put them in airtight Ziploc bags with Febreeze sheets in them , hoping they would make them smell better.When I got to my destination and unpacked them they still stunk!Burnt rubber and hay.I had the misfortune of wearing them into a small restaurant and I was so self conscious of the rubber smell I refused to wear them indoors again. When not in use, I kept them in a Ziploc bag the whole time so the odor wouldn't infect everything else.

~~~Bottom line, they work great for OUTSIDE use, minus the pebble build-up in the soles.~~~
After my experience,I would not wear them inside, ever.The heavy rubber odor is just too strong.
*Note to TEVA, Please de-stink these great sandals!
